Easter by the Numbers: What Americans Are Putting in Their Baskets + The Impacts of Eggflation
This year, Easter is taking its sweet time – falling on April 20, nearly three weeks later than last year’s March 31 celebration. The extra time is giving shoppers a head start on spring festivities, with 62% of consumers saying that they’re planning Easter-related purchases or will be shopping those weekend sales.
However, while the spirit of the season remains high, wallets are a bit lighter. This year’s average spend? $249, down from $73 from 2024.
What’s in the Easter Basket This Year?
Even with budgets a bit tighter, the Easter basket isn’t going anywhere. Here’s what’s making the cut in 2025:
- Chocolate and candy – 73%
- Easter eggs – 52%
- Food and beverages for at-home celebrations (think ham, fresh bread, and spring sides) – 50%
- Easter baskets – 48%
- Easter toys and plushies – 43%
- Arts and crafts supplies – 33%
- Cards and invitations – 28%
From sweet treats to family meals and DIY decorations, Easter continues to be a celebration filled with joy, tradition and creativity.
The Impact of “Eggflation”
One thing that’s cracking Easter budgets? Eggflation. Nearly half of consumers (49%) say rising egg prices are changing how they celebrate–whether that means skipping eye-dyeing altogether or finding creative alternatives for traditional crafts..
Whether you’re celebrating big or keeping things simple, Easter 2025 is all about thoughtful traditions, creative swaps, and sweet savings.
